● 2 cups all-purpose flour
● 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
● 3 teaspoons baking powder
● 1 teaspoon salt
● 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
● 1 cup milk
● 2 large eggs
● 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch cake pan by greasing it with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix with an electric mixer or by hand until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, stirring gently until all ingredients are well combined and the batter is smooth.
